November 2018

November was a quiet month this year. In my memory, winter came a lot earlier than we are used to and it was already quite cold and wet by November.
I don't seem to have taken many photos (I got out of the swing without a blog to update!) but I know that we were 'closing down' the veggie garden - pulling up the last of the harvest and laying compost over the beds so it could break down over the winter.
I also know that we finally got our central heating running (which was lucky, as we needed it!) but it needed constant tweaking and even taking apart over November and December, which was a real pain.
My parents visited us for a long weekend at the beginning of the month - we had a cosy and relaxed time with them as well as a visit to Buzludzha and a night out in Plovdiv. Both good fun!
Other than that we went on walks in the late autumn drizzle and began to get into the swing of winter.

Our trip to the incredible Buzludzha. Sadly there is no way inside anymore, but it's still an amazing place to visit. The weather was miserable that day but we drove up the mountain, through the clouds and into gorgeous sunshine! We also nearly lost our dog - she'd run all the way down the hill and was hiding under the car and we had no idea until we'd basically given up on ever seeing her again! Argh!

Day and night out in Plovdiv:

 Woodburner in action! Woohoo:

Walk on the old Turkish road:

Fermenting Jerusalem artichokes -
this process make them a lot less gas inducing!
It worked a treat, I recommend!

The living room starting to look homely. Pete made a great coffee table using the spare scaffold boards. I might have a better photo in the future, but this'll do for now:
