Germany to Austria.

We expected a slightly shorter drive today so we woke up at about 8 and had a coffee at the motel. It was a beautiful sunny day but a bit frosty outside - Rusty started first time (yay!) By 9 we were back on the road and speeding along the free German autobahn. We were making great time and I was just deciding which service station we should go to for a relaxing lunch, when we suddenly hit a huge traffic jam. You could see ahead quite far but it seemed never ending. We literally moved 3 miles in an hour! So boring. We thought it might be traffic for Good Friday going into Nuremberg, even though that was miles away, so thought we would turn off at the next opportunity. But eventually we saw blue flashing lights ahead and realised it was an accident. When we'd got past the crashed car the road was empty again and we cruised all the way to Austria. I forgot to check exactly on the odometer but Google tells me we did 350 miles today. Nothing much else to report about the drive.

Services.
Our accomodation tonight is an Air BnB in a small village called Ernsthofen, near Linz. We arrived around 5 and our host wasn't here - just a lady that spoke no English who seemed to not know why we were here! Luckily our host arrived soon after and was very friendly and showed us our room. We needed some food to avoid cold soup again for dinner and as it was such a lovely evening we walked to the nearest village about 2km away over the river Enns. However, we remembered from our last trip in Austria, that they apparently don't have shops in towns. And cafes and bars obviously close before 6 on a Friday!? Very strange. Still a very nice evening stroll and a lovely house we're staying in. We have a very long drive tomorrow so after our soup out the tin we will have an early night!

Sunny evening.
