Week twenty three.

A very speedy update today as we are waiting for my mum and dad to arrive in about an hour. We have a busy couple of weeks ahead - dad is here to do our roof for us! Woo!!

We have been busy this week as well (as always!) catching up on alot of paid work as well as things around the house, more digging in the hole and getting materials for doing the roof.

Kenneth and Rosemarys last day was pretty mellow - Kenneth finished strimming the walnut orchard, but apart from that we had a lovely relaxed day. We had our last dinner at the hotel, delicious as usual, and said our goodbyes. It was so great to have them here - they loved it here and they were very amazingly helpful and hardworking!! :)

The only way to spend the day after your birthday!

Walnut orchard looking so open.

Yes it was a nice sunset... :)

Last night!!

So here are a few photos of the week and what we've been up to...

The ladies

Baba Villay gave us strawberries to plant
Baba Villays gift has also reminded me that we were invited around to another neighbours house this week - a lovely guy a couple of doors down called Hristo. He showed us his workshop and where he was making his homemade alcohol. He had two huge barred of fermenting figs and another of fermenting pears - complete with a floating dead rat, which he didn't seem to mind was there at all!! Can't wait to try it when it's ready!

We have (almost) finally finished this bloody window! It is looking good and we've even had approoval from our Bulgarian neighbours.

Filling in the gaps

Painting

New stones in to build the wall up

Nice big wooden window sill

Lime mortar going in to make it all match :)

In the hole!!
I have been tidying/reorganising upstairs as it's goign to get very messy when we get into the roof. The kitchen is much nicer to use now as well so we might not have to move it downstairs in winter.

Before

After

Nice kitchen

I made Lucy a nice new bed

Post office in Chirpan (paying our electricity bill - 8 pounds for a month)

Collecting wood for the roof - we had to go 3 times to Chirpan to get it all!

Paid work gardening.
Beer after gardening in SG bar.
Some more pics from around our village...

Cobwebs in the morning

Mayors office and post office

Main road coming into the village

Made a new solar shower as old one was broken and getting mouldy.
We had a really fun night at Izvorovo bar with S&G and DW, as well as a few Bulgarians that we met there. One guy and his daughter were particulary nice and kept bringing us food - he even went home to get us homemade pancakes and freserved figs. So good!

Pigs tails

Moved the toilet down to the garden to make better roof access.

Inside loo - fully equipt with privacy curtain!

Side of house now clear and open!

We made LOADS more fig chutney. 13 jars should keep us going - and we're getting more figs every day!

Morning cuppa on the hay bails.
New addition to the van - proper locals now! :)

  3. Gangster looking grave? Dudes... c'mon... have some respect, you're better than that.
Would you like to see someone publicly post AND mock a picture of your father's tomb?
    I'm sure you would not.
